Gee it might be too early to go cold-turkey! You initially said that "we'll see after a week or two if i can still cut down to 2 ciggy a day". Based on that you probably still have a little longer to wean yourself off them. But you know what you're capable of. We'll wait and see what you decide to do.
wed 22 @ 1pm:
2 cigarettes already and only one left in the box...should i or should i not buy another pack?
on one hand i'll be saving nearly $15 but on the other side, am I ready for this big step?
pfff difficult decision...
By the way, the 15 point system that you were talking about can be found at : http://www.ldsstopsmokingprogram.org/ I never signed up for it, so I don't know the 15 steps.
However, according 'Gramps' on this site (http://www.askgramps.org/how-can-i-quit-smoking/), these are the steps...
1. PRAY (Begin each day with a short personal prayer to ask God for help and strength)
2. AVOID TEMPTATION (Completely eliminate all smoking materials from your personal environment.)
3. PREPARE (Have all necessary materials to fulfill all 15 steps with you at ALL times!)
4. BRUSH TEETH (Brush your teeth and use mouthwash IMMEDIATELY after waking up.)
5. BREAKFAST (Eat a good healthy breakfast in the morning.)
6. GRAPEFRUIT JUICE AND VITAMIN C (End each meal with a glass of cold grapefruit juice. Take 1 Vitamin C tablet after each meal.)
7. BRUSH TEETH AFTER EVERY MEAL (Brush teeth and use mouthwash after every meal.)
8. SNACKS (Eat healthy snacks such as apples, carrots and other fruits and veggies.)
9. NO COFFEE, TEA or ALCOHOL
10. FRIENDLY SUPPORT (Ask those around you NOT to smoke.)
11. HELP OTHERS QUIT (Tell your friends and family that you are quitting smoking. Inform them of the Stop Smoking Workshop.)
12. PUT SIGNS UP EVERYWHERE (Put signs in places where you will notice them and be reminded not to smoke.)
13. KEEP BUSY (Be up and at ‘em. Do not lounge around.)
Hi Christabelle. Thanks for the kind words that you mentioned about everybody. I'm sure there are many people would would love to give up, but can't.
I've just added a forum topic called 'Steps to Quit Smoking'. It has some really interesting ideas. The first two points it says people should do are:
- Set a quit date.
- Tell family, friends, and co-workers that you plan to quit.
So you've actually already done these two steps! So well done on that front.
Do keep this forum up to date because it could be helpful for others trying to quite smoking.
hey, went to spend the weekend in B-city. It's really hard when everyone in your vicinity smokes. everything seems to remind you that u need a ciggy. the ads, ppl walking around, safeway... I'll be lying if i said that i respected my my 3 cigarettes deal..i had a few more than 3 but still under my normal daily intake. Really appreciate your involvement. now that im back in M-city, will definitely have to stick to my 3 cigarettes. I feel like im being observed here. nah!!! curiously, knowing that i can share my worries with ppl who have themselves experienced or know someone who have experienced the same issue, really boost up my motivation.
speaking of motivation, im lucky i met some awesome ppl, they will recognise themselves who without knowing are being just more than helpful...love ya guys...i'll drop some few lines this coming weekend. stay tuned on the awesome, fantastic, amazing, did i say pretty? yea "the pretty Christabelle's life".
p.s: never met someone as humble as me..hihihihi
Hey Christabelle. I'm impressed. That's really good. I've never smoked so I can't really advise you on ways to stop. I could actually never understand the whole concept of sucking dirty air into your lungs and then pushing it straight back out again. All the time, playing Russian Roulette with you life. But, geez, I really admire you for trying to give up. A few of my friends have and I know how difficult it was for them. You go girl!!!
OMG i'm famous now but for the wrong reason. well i've cut down my daily cigarettes to 3 today when i normally smoked more...we'll see after a week or two if i can still cut down to 2 ciggy a day...any suggestions???
