Hey there from Xin Yang, Central China! (11:12pm 25th December, 2008) by kimchi101

Hey there pplz!

Hope youse hols are going fine at the moment.
I'm having a blissfully snowy and cold Xmas! I'm freezing myself over here while it's warmish in Down Under Australia.
I miss all of my friends (minus gay Julian) and I just basically miss Australia.
I'm OK up here in China.
While I've been in Central China for 2 weeks from Hong Kong, and I went to a Chinese skool here that I've been to twice, and seen all of my Chinese friends. And there's a boy who likes me....uh oH! I got a boy problem here! Can't be bothered to crap on about it.
Anywayz...
And since it's Xmas time, the skool canteen supplied cans of spray flakes and strings. So far, I've bought five cans. And we spray each other with it. This is something that Australia, CHS doesn't allow us, and that absolutely sucks like hell!
So far, I've had it sprayed it in my hair and on my clothes multiple times. I don't mind it if it gets on my clothes cos it can be washed out or wiped out in the classroom with a cloth and water. But when it's in my hair, it sticks there, and then I need my friends to help me get it all out. And it leaves my hair all clumped and sticky.
And today, while I was running away from someone who was trying to spray me with some pink string spray, I accidentally slipped on the balcony concrete floor and I landed forward, bending my left hand fingers on the ground as I fell onto them. And boy, did that kill! It's alrite now, but it twinges when I move my hand too much.
And today, when a boy wasn't watching, I sprayed white flaky spray on the back of his jacket. And this I didn't realize, but I miraculously graffitied the back of his jacket with a white lined turtle!
That was funny as!

That's it for now.
Au revoir pplz!

Cheetahs (10:12pm 21st December, 2008) by andrew

I've always loved watching Cheetahs run. Their speed is incredible. It's amazing to think that an animal can run over 100km (even if it is only for a short distance). I saw this youtube video which has some great footage, especially at the 1 minute mark.

Christmas (9:12pm 12th December, 2008) by andrew

I can't believe it's almost Christmas again. I still don't really know what I want Santa to bring either. I'll need to get my list off to him pronto. Has everyone seen the rainbow lorikeet that my family is raising? You can see some pictures of it under my profile pet photos. It was young when we found it sitting on the edge of the road. It's a very happy and social bird. According to an article we read, this type of lorikeet is seen as 'vermin' - like a rat! Luckily it's cute.

Christmas (8:12am 12th December, 2008) by teaghan

Yay!!! Less than 2 weeks to go. I have brought now for 2 of the 3 people i'm buying for, mum, dad and Bray. With the exception of James coz he hasn't given me any gift ideas. If anyone has any ideas for a 16 yr olds Xmas present, below $50 let me know.

For those in Melbourne i highly recommend going to Chaddy's new extension. It's amazing. Has great new food places. Including some sort of chocolate bar and a sweet oriental tea house which also serves food and yes the food is yummy!! Besides the food places theres also now an Aldi, Woolworths, Many home and bathroom places with awesome gadjets and a giant pet store with everything your pet needs including an in store vet and grooming place. They also have set prices for 'animal adoption' Which i think is just the sweetest way of putting it! These are to name just a FEW of the stores that caught my eye.

This weekend, as with last weekend i am probably going to the collingwood childrens farm. If anyone is interested in joining me let me know. It's a fantastic experience milking Patsy the cow!

Please feel free to send me messages or comments about my blog or anything else. Add me if i havn't already added you! Im always open to broadening my social network!!!

Have a great weekend!

Last Day of Skool 4 Me!!! (4:11pm 26th November, 2008) by kimchi101

Hey pplz!
YAYZ!
My last day of skool is finally over cos Im going on early hols.
Bad thing is, is that I'll be leaving all my friends, and most importantly Sam. I didn't get a chance to talk to him today, which was rather disappointing.
GRR!!!!
At skool, I kept getting bombarded with my friends who were all saying goodbyes. How irritating!
And at lunchtime, got hit by a soccer ball thrice, but it didn't hurt.
Hehe!
That's all for now, pplz!
Chat soon.
Au revoir!

PS3 (11:11pm 25th November, 2008) by andrew

Finally! Brayden has been trying to get his PS3 game set up online. Initially we had problems with the wireless connection, then there was heaps of updates that needed to be downloaded. But finally he has lift off. So tomorrow he'll be able to actually play his game. That was a major hurdle out of the way! What else..well I just caught the biggest white-tail spider crawling around our bedroom wall. I was so impressed I put it in a jar so I can show some friends. Last night I killed a smaller one that was on our stair way. The recent heavy rain we've had seems to have brought them inside. In general I don't kill anything, but white-tail spiders can cause some people to lose big chunks of their limbs because the flesh rots etc. I certainly don't want them running around the home. If anyone has ever seen a white-tail spider they'll know how tough they look. Once I put one of them inside a jar with a red-back spider. Both were good specimens. I was planning on letting the red back go but left them overnight. To my surprise, when I came back to the jar the next morning the red back had totally demolished the white tail spider. There were only a few legs left of the white tail. I never would have picked the red back to win that fight.
That's about it for the day...

What now??? (11:11am 23rd November, 2008) by teaghan

So i've now finished my exams and am waiting on my VCE results. Its coming up to christmas so thought i should find a way to get money so this year i don't have 2 be the tight a*s.

Dropped my resume in all around junction and then I came to the EB games store. Brayden is willing me in so i drop it in there too. Even though the guy (greg) says there are no jobs going.

Dad tells me i shouldn't have bothered there and kicks up a fuss and what do u know, i get a call within a few days asking me to come in for an interview at EB games.

I got the job for my 'babysitting skills' (yeah right guys!!). its heaps of fun and everyone is so nice.

The moral of this. Don't listen to the crazy admin guy, hand ur number out to everyone! just kidding!!!!

Well im off to make some mince tarts. COMMENT ME

Using Humor at Exam Time: With guest blogger Dan Brantly

There is a great scene from The Stuntman, one of my favorite films, where Steve Railsback and Barbara Hershey have made a pact to escape and she is to hide in the trunk of a car he is to drive away. Morning comes and Steve is starting to open the trunk to check, when another member of the crew stops him and basically says, if she’s in there it doesn’t matter, he can relax. And if she isn’t in there, she doesn’t love him, and nothing matters. Either way, opening the trunk won’t help.

I said it was my favorite film, not a great one.

Exam time is coming up and soon you will be asked to show what you know. There is no other time when confidence can, so quickly, turn to despair.

A certain religion class always had a high enrollment at a small liberal arts college. This was because, since the professor had started teaching the class, thirty years previously, he always had just one question on the final exam, Chart the Life and Travels of the Apostle Paul. Most students would doze off, do other homework or generally just endure the classes, unless the Apostle Paul was mentioned, then pens would fly, recorders would be turned on and attention would be paid.

Final exam time came. The professor was retiring this year and so his enrollment was particularly heavy, since this would be the last opportunity for an easy A from this class. Everyone in class was ready with their notes when the exam was handed out, one question, just like all thirty years before, Critique the Life and Teachings of Jesus Christ...The atmosphere in the room, once so festive and full of life, took on the feeling of a bus crash. A classroom full of dazed and confused people all wondering what happened.

Slowly, one by one, they all walked to the professor’s desk and turned in their blank exam booklets. Except for one lineman on the school football team. His large bulk barely fit at his desk as he scribbled furiously filling page after page, until finally, he was the last one left in the room.

The professor, after looking through all of the blank booklets, walked up to the football player and said, “Listen, I don’t care how good or bad what you’ve written is. You are the only one who passes this course because at least you tried. Smiling, the lineman thanked the professor, handed in his paper and left the classroom. The professor then opened up the exam booklet to read what the lineman had written, it began… “Who am I to critique the life and teachings of Jesus Christ, what I want to do is chart the life and travels of the Apostle Paul...”

Another, more recent story, concerns a philosophy professor, known for his intelligence and wit, but particularly for his scathing critiques of inferior work or lazy thought. He was a hardass.

The class concerned itself with such topics as Justice, Charity, Bravery, Piety, Loyalty and Virtue; discussions were long, in depth and woe to anyone who came in unprepared.

Final exams had to be the absolute best work a student could turn in, but succinct and to the point. Meaningless filler and weasel worded paragraphs designed to disguise ignorance were a sure way to failure. He was merciless.

Exam time arrived and the all night study sessions had taken their toll on the students, they looked like earthquake survivors. If coffee could have been taken intravenously there would have been IV poles all over the room. The professor walked to the whiteboard and wrote the topic, the one topic that they would all have to expound upon in their essays. What is Courage?

Pens flew across paper, pages turned, sweat dripped from brows, coffee got cold sitting on desktops as no one took time to drink it.

Except for one student. He thought for a moment, wrote one sentence in his book and turned it in.

Curious, and thinking the student had simply given up, the professor picked up the exam booklet, opened it, and beneath the Topic, What is Courage? the student had simply written, “This is.” He received the only A in the class.

In both of these stories students were rewarded for audacity. Unfortunately, that isn’t always the case at exam time. But looking beyond the audacious, they also didn’t panic, kept calm, did what they considered to be their best work at the time and turned it in. It is normal to be a little nervous at exam time, and that can help you do your best work if you channel it, but it can also destroy you if you obsess on what you don’t know. I am fortunate; I have always been a good test taker. And part of the reason is that I always went in with the attitude that I either knew it, or I didn’t, and there was nothing I could do about it then.

Trust yourself to do your best work at the time. Study and prepare as best you can and generally you’ll find, as I did, that you actually know more at exam time than you think you know.

And when it comes time to open that test booklet, keep The Stuntman in mind: If you know it… it doesn’t matter what’s in there, and if you don’t know it… it doesn’t matter what’s in there.

There is life after exams. Do your best work at the time!

Thanks (10:11pm 17th November, 2008) by andrew

I've quite enjoyed reading the various blogs that are going up onto the community wall. Keep them coming! I had an exciting (not!) day painting parts of the house. Our house in Melbourne was rented out while my family and I went to live in Cairns for a while. Unfortunately, when we moved back into our Melbourne house, we found that the little kids belonging to the tenants had been drawing over walls etc. So some repainting was needed. Apart from that, a rather quiet day for me. I guess everyone has heard about parts of Queensland taking a beating with terrible weather over the weekend. I hope no one on this site has been affected by the weather up there. If anyone has every been in a cyclone, you'll understand how scary they can be, especially when the heavy rains flood homes and businesses.

School. Grrrrrr...... (9:11pm 17th November, 2008) by exile

School is ending for another year soon, and finally we'll be able to have a substantial amount of holidays! Only to go through school all over again. Yay!(not!). School's a drag as usual. TOO MUCH WORK!! Our english teacher said he wouldn't give us anymore work. Guess what? He does. Damn english skill sheets and word mapping sheets!! Ummmmm, not much else to say really. Hopefully THIS weekend, i will be able to go over to Andrew's house as i have been meaning to for the past few weeks. I really(REALLY) like his sister, so i may get to ask her out. I hope she says yes....... Oh well, enough ranting from me. Adios!!
